CareerChatUK extends partnership with BBC Bitesize Careers to enhance AI-powered career exploration for young people

CareerChatUK is extending our partnership with the BBC Bitesize Careers Team working together focused on the innovative use of careers chatbot technology to support and inspire young people across the UK as they explore their future pathways.

Currently CareerChatUK is leading on research in the four home nations of the UK, conducting user testing of a new prototype, developed specifically for BBC Bitesize Careers. The testing will gather feedback from a diverse group of young people aged 13+ including those who are confident in their career plans and those who are still exploring their options.

The user research is led by Dr Deirdre Hughes OBE, Co-Founding Director of CareerChatUK, who will oversee a team of experienced Associate Researchers – each based in one of the UK’s four home nations. Their combined expertise ensures a rich, inclusive, and evidence-based approach to understanding how young people interact with AI technology, specifically chatbots, and how best to design and make careers resources more accessible to young people.

The overarching aim of the project is to explore the power of AI and large language models (LLMs) to deliver highly engaging, trustworthy, and personalised career support – accessible to every young person, regardless of where they live or what stage they’re at in their decision-making journey.

This pioneering collaboration marks a significant step toward capturing the voices of young people in the UK, placing student voice, digital innovation, and equity of access at the heart of the solution.
