Trialling an assessment protocol for LLM-powered careers advice
✨ Good news!
The Nuffield Foundation is funding a new two-year research project led by the University of Warwick’s Institute for Employment Research (IER) 🏫 in partnership with CareerChatUK 💬 to trial an assessment protocol for LLM-powered (Large Language Model) careers advice 🤖. For further details visit: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/ier/researchthemesoverview/researchprojects/llmpoweredcareersadvice/
Running from January 2026 to December 2027, the project aims to:
📊 Develop an evidence-based assessment for AI careers tools
✅ Ensure rigorous evaluation and quality assurance for professional practice and client safety in the use of AI in careers advice.
👩🔬 The research team, led by Associate Professor Peter Dickinson (Warwick IER) with Associate Professor Deirdre Hughes (CareerChatUK), Dr Chris Percy (CareerChatUK), and Dr Gianni Anelli (Warwick IER), each look forward to actively involving:
👩🏫 Practitioners
🎓 Students
📚 Researchers
🏛 Policymakers
💼 Careers & employability providers
🤖.Technology providers
Together, we will embark on this journey of discovery in a rapidly changing #human #careerguidance #AI and #LLMs landscape. The outputs will support systemic change to improve careers advice and adoption of the assessment protocol by sector bodies to improve AI tool standards.
🔎 This initiative is part of the Nuffield Foundation’s wider commitment to funding research that informs social policy, particularly in education and employment 🎓💼.
🚀 It complements the five-year programme “The Skills Imperative 2035: Essential skills for tomorrow’s workforce”, led by NFER with Warwick IER as a key partner, which identifies essential skills that will be vital for future employment.
